# What legal documents do I need to have prepared before buying or selling a property?

2. Deed: This document transfers the ownership of the property from the seller to the buyer. The deed should be recorded with the appropriate government agency to ensure that the transfer is legally recognized.
3. Bill of Sale: If the sale includes personal property, such as appliances or furniture, a bill of sale may be necessary to transfer ownership of those items.
4. Disclosure Forms: Depending on the jurisdiction, the seller may be required to provide certain disclosures, such as a lead-based paint disclosure or a seller’s property condition disclosure.
