What documents do I need to have in order to apply for an Investor Visa in the United States?

As a lawyer, I can advise you on the documentation requirements for applying for an Investor Visa in the United States. An Investor Visa, also known as an E-2 visa, is available to foreign investors who wish to invest in a business in the United States.

To apply for an Investor Visa, you will need to provide the following documentation:

  1. A valid passport: You must have a valid passport from your home country with an expiration date that is at least six months beyond the period of your intended stay in the United States.
  2. Form DS-160: You must complete Form DS-160, which is the online nonimmigrant visa application. This form collects information about you and your trip to the United States.
  3. Application fee: You must pay the nonrefundable visa application fee, which is currently $205.
  4. Evidence of investment: You must provide evidence that you have made a substantial investment in a U.S. business. This can include a purchase agreement, lease agreement, or other evidence of ownership.
  5. Business plan: You must provide a detailed business plan outlining the nature of the business, the funding sources, and the expected profitability.
  6. Proof of qualifying relationship: If you are an employee of the investing company, you must provide evidence of the qualifying relationship, such as a letter from the parent company.
  7. Proof of intent to depart: You must provide evidence that you intend to return to your home country after your stay in the United States is over. This can include return airline tickets, job offer letters, and evidence of property ownership in your home country.

Once you have submitted your application and supporting documents, you may be required to attend an interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country. During the interview, a consular officer will ask you questions about your business and investment plans to determine whether you are qualified for an Investor Visa.

It is important to note that the documentation requirements for an Investor Visa may vary depending on your specific situation and the U.S. embassy or consulate where you are applying. Therefore, it is recommended that you consult with an experienced immigration attorney for guidance on your specific case.
