# What compensation can be sought in a personal injury case?

# Legal Advice Regarding Compensation Sought in a Personal Injury Case

## Economic Damages

Economic damages refer to the monetary losses suffered by the injured person as a direct result of the accident or injury. These losses can include:

- Medical expenses: This includes the cost of all medical treatment, including hospital bills, prescription medication, rehabilitation or physical therapy, and any other medical expenses necessary to treat the injury.
- Lost wages or income: If the injury caused the injured person to miss work or other income-earning opportunities, they may be able to recover compensation for these losses.
- Property damage: If the accident caused damage to the injured person's property, such as a car, they may be able to recover the cost of repairing or replacing the damaged property.

## Non-Economic Damages

Non-economic damages are more subjective in nature and are intended to compensate the injured person for the pain, suffering, and emotional distress caused by the injury. These damages can include:

- Pain and suffering: This includes compensation for both physical and emotional pain and suffering caused by the injury, such as chronic pain, emotional distress, and trauma.
- Loss of enjoyment of life: If the injury has resulted in the injured person being unable to enjoy activities or hobbies that they once enjoyed, they may be able to recover compensation for the loss of enjoyment of life.

While the specific types and amounts of compensation that can be sought will depend on the facts and circumstances of each case, injured persons may be able to recover damages for their losses.
