# What are the requirements for obtaining an O-1 visa for individuals with extraordinary ability in science or technology?

## To obtain an O-1 visa for individuals with extraordinary ability in science or technology, the following requirements must be met:

1. **Extraordinary ability:** The applicant must demonstrate extraordinary ability in the field of science or technology. This can be done by providing evidence of publication in scholarly journals, receipt of major scientific or technological awards, membership in professional associations, and other similar achievements.
2. **Advisory opinion:** The applicant must obtain an advisory opinion from a peer group or a labor organization in the field of science or technology. The opinion must confirm that the applicant has extraordinary ability in the field.
3. **Job offer:** The applicant must have a job offer from a US employer to work in the field of science or technology. The job offer must be for a temporary period, and the applicant must be able to demonstrate that he or she is coming to the US to perform services in the field of science or technology.
4. **Essential skills:** The applicant must possess essential skills or experience that are integral to the work to be performed in the US.
5. **Duration of visa:** The O-1 visa is granted for a maximum period of three years, with extensions of up to one year granted in one-year increments.

It is important to note that the O-1 visa is highly specialized, and obtaining one can be a complex process that requires expert legal guidance. It is advisable to consult with an experienced immigration attorney who can provide tailored advice and guidance on this matter.
