# What are the legal requirements for starting and operating a daycare in Georgia?

To start and operate a daycare in Georgia, there are several legal requirements you must fulfill.

1. **Obtain a License:** Daycare facilities in Georgia are required to obtain a license from the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL). To obtain a license, you must meet specific requirements related to the physical environment, staff qualifications, and program operation. You must also submit an application and pay a fee.
