What are some common examples of medical malpractice cases that you handle?

As a lawyer, I have handled several medical malpractice cases throughout my career. Medical malpractice is a type of legal claim that arises when a healthcare provider's negligent actions or omissions cause harm to a patient. Some common examples of medical malpractice cases that I have handled include:

  1. Misdiagnosis: When a healthcare provider fails to diagnose a patient's illness or condition or misdiagnoses it, resulting in delayed or improper treatment.
  2. Surgical errors: When a surgeon or other medical professional makes an error during surgery, such as operating on the wrong body part, or leaving a surgical instrument inside a patient's body.
  3. Medication errors: When medical professionals prescribe the wrong medication, administer the wrong dosage, or fail to notice a patient's allergic reactions.
  4. Anesthesia errors: When anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, or other medical professionals make errors in administering anesthesia, such as giving too much or too little anesthesia, or failing to monitor a patient's vitals.
  5. Birth injuries: When a healthcare provider fails to take proper precautions during delivery, resulting in harm to the newborn, such as cerebral palsy, Erb's palsy, or brain damage.
  6. Nursing home abuse and neglect: When nursing home staff fails to provide appropriate care, resulting in harm to the residents, such as bedsores, malnutrition, and dehydration.

It is important to note that medical malpractice claims are complex, and many legal and medical standards must be met to prove negligence. To determine if someone has a valid medical malpractice claim, a thorough review of medical records, and consultation with medical experts is required. Therefore, it is advisable to consult with an experienced medical malpractice attorney to evaluate your specific case.
